Donald “Pine or Red” Poindexter, Sr., 55, a native and resident of Houma, La., died Thursday, March 20.
He is survived by his wife, Ora Mae Johnson Poindexter of Houma; his father, Evest “Curtis” Poindexter of Raceland, La.; sons, Aaron Stevenson and wife Heidi and Donald Poindexter, Jr. all of Houma; brother, Harry Tillman, Sr. and wife Linda of Houma; sister, Equilla P. Franklin of Houma; mother-in-law, Elnora Robinson Johnson of Gibson, La.; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Cora Williams; sister, Emily Poindexter; brother, Evest “Cook” Poindexter, Jr.; grandparents, Stil and Alice Nixon Poindexter and Usie and Emily Pinky Williams; and father-in-law, Orel Johnson.
He was a member of Greater St. Matthews Baptist Church
Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, at Community Funeral Home and 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 26 at Greater St. Matthews Baptist Church with the funeral to follow. He will be buried at Southdown Cemetery.
Community Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
