Donovan Jared “Big D” Smith, 22, a native of Terrebonne Parish, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died Thursday, Aug. 13.
He is survived by his parents, Martin and Rose Smith; two brothers, Troy L. Smith and wife Nicole of Houma, and Martin G. Smith of Lafayette, La.; three sisters, Tina Marie Celestine, Natalie Smith, and Theawake Parker and husband Johnathan; one godsister, Shatoya Wolfe Miles and husband Madison; five nephews, Frank Celestine Jr., Tyrez Ahmad Smith, Tyrese Smith, Jayden Makih Smith and Justin Tyrell Smith; four nieces, Brittney Shaudea Smith, Armani Nigelle Smith, Imari Marquese Parker and Ja’Lynn Irie’ Parker; and a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Leonard Smith; maternal grandparents, Willis Brown Sr. and Victoria Matthews Brown; five uncles; and two aunts.
He was Baptist. He was employed by Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government
Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, at Community Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, at First Corinthian Baptist Church with burial at New Zion Cemetery.
Community Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
