Dorothy “Dot” Foucheaux Duplessis, 89, a native of New Orleans, La., and resident of Donaldsonville, La., died Friday July 15, 2011.

Mrs. Duplessis was a retired postmaster, former board member of the Jambalaya Association, former member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, NAPUS, Busy Needles and St. Anthony’s Altar Society.


She is survived by her daughters, Theresa Klack and Cheryl (Kenneth) Sutton; son, Richard Duplessis; foster sisters, Claire Black and Carolee Smiley; foster brother, Burton (Florence) Duplessis; two granddaughters; and three great-granddaughters.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Layton Duplessis; mother, Effie Foucheaux; sister, Sr. Mary Estelle Foucheaux MSC; son-in-law, Joseph Klack; and foster sisters, Carolyn Smiley and Carmel Madere.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, July 21, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Darrow, La., with Mass of Christian Burial to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Ascension Catholic School 311, St. Vincent St., Donaldsonville, La., 70346 or Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital, 5000 Hennessey, Baton Rouge, La., 70808.
