Douglas Joseph Trahan, 85, a native of Youngsville and resident of Houma, died at 9:15 p.m. Thursday, June 26, 2014.

Mr. Trahan was a parishioner of St. Bridget Catholic Church in Schriever and St. Francis de Sales Cathedral in Houma. He retired from Southern Pacific Railroad after 40 years of service. He loved bowling, playing cards, fishing and hunting.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Laura Robin Trahan; sons, Ronnie (Karlene), Tommy (Nancy), Tony and Kirk (Deborah) Trahan; daughters, Carol Fanguy, Glenda (Jerome) Brien, Jackie Billiot and Laura (Adam) Albarado; brother, John Trahan; sister-in-law, Mildred Dugas; 36 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.


Mr. Trahan was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Lelia Boudreaux Trahan; son-in-law, Steve Billiot; granddaughter, Brandy Runnels; daughter-in-law, Trish Trahan; brother, Electan (Hazel) Trahan; brothers-in-law, Charles Dugas and Edmond (Eilene) Robin; sisters, Edith (Theard) Bodoin, and Lula Mae (Ducre’) Simone; and sister-in-law, Edna (Cecil) Stoot.

The Trahan family extends a special thank you to Mr. Trahan’s caregivers and sitters, Lacy King, Joyce Marcel, Monique Zeringue, and Karlene Trahan. Thanks also go to the nurses and aids from Bayou Home Health Care and Haydel Hospice, as well as Drs. Bruce Guidry, Brian Matherne and Miadoh, who were always available. The kindness and compassion shown was truly appreciated and shall not be forgotten.

Burial is at St. Bridget Catholic Church Cemetery in Schriever.
