Earl “Spider” “Paw Paw Turtle” Himel, 66, a native of Thibodaux, LA. and resident of Bayou Blue, LA., died at 10:05 p.m., Friday, March 2, 2007.


Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the Thibodaux Funeral Home and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Monday at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church. Mass will be at 10 a.m. at the church with burial in St. Joseph Cemtery.


He is survived by his wife, Jeannette Marcel Himel; one son, Randy and his wife, Linda, Himel; one daughter, Cynthia H. and her husband, Chris, Hymel; four grandchildren, Christopher and his wife, Tabitha, Hymel, Sandi Himel, Randy Himel Jr. and Kayla Hymel; one brother, Warren Himel; two sisters, Dianne H. Benoit and Gloria H. Legendre.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Neville and Virgie Benoit Himel; his maternal grandparents, Oristille and Leonie Benoit and his paternal grandparents, Dorgeville and Emelia Thibodaux.

Pallbearers will be Randy Himel, Randy Himel Jr., Christopher Hymel, Chris Hymel; Jason Rodriguez and Gary Kufel.

He was employed by the City of Thibodaux for 27 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and tending to his cattle.

Thibodaux Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
