Edward Aman “Apuckaboo” Burdis Sr., 82, a native of Napoleonville, La., and a resident of Labadieville, La., died Thursday, February 5, at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center.

He is survived by his daughters, Rosetta Burdis of Labadieville and Kathleen Walker of Thibodaux, La.; sister, Eva Mae Morris of Napoleonville; stepbrothers, Alvin and wife Annette Thomas, Huey Thomas and Herbert Thomas of Napoleonville and Earl and wife Betty Thomas of Raceland, La.; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Hall Burdis; parents, Frank Sr. and Evie Burdis; son, Edward Burdis Jr.; daughter, Beulah Burdis; brothers, Frank Burdis Jr., Lawrence Thomas, Joseph Thomas, Oscar Burdis and Clarence Thomas; and grandparents, Tina Johnson and Oscar Burdis.

He was a member of New Belmont Baptist Church. He loved fishing and gardening.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, February 14, at New Belmont Baptist Church in Labadieville. A religious service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with burial at the church cemetery.

Kennedy Funeral Home of Raceland is in charge of the arrangements.
