Elaine E. Naquin, 87, a native of Minnesota and resident of Morgan City, La., died Saturday, May 28, 2011.


Ms. Naquin was a loving wife and mother and enjoyed singing in the choir, knitting, sewing, dancing and reading. She was noted for her custom designed afghans, specifically her LSU Tiger and Crimson Tide afghan. She was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a member of the Catholic Daughters, VFW Auxiliary, and past member of the Krewe of Galatea.


She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Therol Naquin; daughters, Barbara (Pat) McCleary and Gwen McHugh; sisters, Shirley Bitterly and Dorothy Bannister; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Edith Bannister; brother, Gilbert Bannister Jr.; and sister, Jean Ayers.

Burial was at the Morgan City Mausoleum with military honors. (Twin City)
