Elder Calvin Woods, 72, a native of Thibodaux, La., and a resident of Schriever, La., died at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center Thursday, July 10.


He is survived by his wife, Patricia Myles Woods; one daughter, Yolanda Jones; three sisters, Ida W. Hunt of Thibodaux, Edith Scoby and husband, Clarence, of Algiers, La., and Martha Woods Shareef and husband, Rashid, of Houma, La.; and five brothers, the Rev. Paul Woods and wife, Pearl, of Magnolia Springs, Tx., Clifton Woods and wife, Mary Ann, of Gray, La., Edison Woods of Hahnville, La., Warren Woods and wife, Constance, and Andrew Woods and wife, Gwen, of Huntsville, Al.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Sr. and Mary E. Dyer Woods; and two brothers, Joseph Woods Jr. and Major Woods.

He was a member of Power House of Deliverance Church and Morning Star Baptist Church. He was a former member of the Sensational Southern Tones.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, July 17, at Tabernacle of Love Pentecostal Church in Thibodaux with a religious service to follow. He will be buried at Morning Star Baptist Church Cemetery.

Williams and Southall Funeral Home in Thibodaux is in charge of the arrangements.
