Ellis Joseph “Palook” Adams, a native of Golden Meadow, La., and a lifelong resident of Galliano, La., died at his home Tuesday, March 10, at 7:06 a.m.


He is survived by his sons, Randy James Adams and wife Melinda, and Jason Patrick Adams; sister, Hazel “Lou” Stoute; brother, Thomas “Joe” Adams; grandchildren, Zoe and Danielle Adams, Judd, Jene and Jason Ellis Adams; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Willima “Lilly” Adams; son, Billy Bob Adams; parents, Arthur and Jolina Duet Adams; sisters, Bertha Adams, Rita Adams and Lenora Dupre; and brothers, Andrew, Arthur Jr., Sidney, Edless and Irwin Adams.


He was a veteran of the Pacific Theater during World War II in the 3rd Marine Division of Iwo Jima. He was awarded the Purple Heart for his sacrifices. He was an employee of Schlumberger for 26 years. He enjoyed the outdoors with his extended family and loved hunting and fishing, a Classic Cajun.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to his caregiver and daughter-in-law for the past several months, Shelley Curole Adams. A special thanks to all the gang at St. Joseph Hospice. God Bless you all.

Burial was at Cheramie Cemetery.

Smart-Mothe Funeral Home of Cut Off, La., is in charge of the arrangements.
