Elma Harris Owens, 75, a native of Terrebonne Parish and resident of Gibson, La., died Friday, Feb. 12, 2010.


Mrs. Owens was a member of New Mt. Zion and Beulah Baptist churches. She served on the Deaconess Board and TPWDA.


She is survived by her husband, Roland Owens Sr.; sons, Don (Annie) Johnson and Roland (Carrie) Owens Jr.; sister, Vera Lawson of Paul, Minn.; brothers, Willie Jr. of Metairie, Albert of St. Paul, Minn., and twins, Elvin and Harold Harris of Houma; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Carrie Harris; brother, Lester Harris; and sisters, Ophelia and Anita Harris and Rita Walker.

She is buried at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery.

Community Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
