Elsie Vedros Bates, 68, a native and resident of Lockport, LA., died Sunday, April 15, 2007.


Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday and from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Falgout Funeral Home in Lockport. A mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Savior Catholic Church in Lockport. Burial will be in the church cemetery.


She is survived by one daughter, Gloria Foret Percle; two brothers, Eugene Vedros and Clifton Vedros Jr.; three sisters, Wildred V. Bradford, Mildred V. Percle and Charlene Breaux; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Junius Foret; her second husband, Thomas Bates; her parents, Clifton Vedros Sr. and Anita Curole Vedros; and one daughter, Cherrie Ann Foret.

She was a volunteer for many years at nursing homes and was a Girl Scout leader.

She was a parishioner of Holy Savior Catholic Church.

Falgout Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
