Elsie Harang Smith Johnson, 98, a native of Raceland, La., and a resident of Baton Rouge, La., died Tuesday, Aug. 4.


She is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth Smith Carmouche of Napoleonville, La.; three grandsons, Donald T. “Donnie” Carmouche and wife Claire of Thibodaux, La., John H. Carmouche and wife Trisha of Baton Rouge, and Brian T. Carmouche and wife Shannon of Baton Rouge; and 10 great-grandchildren, Abby, Taylor, Grace, Cole, Riley, Ethan, Chloe, Olivia, Jett and Sophie.


She was preceded in death by her husbands, Donald E. Smith and Noble Johnson; parents, Edmond and Annette Foret Harang; one brother, Jack Harang; and three sisters, Maida Harang, Margarie Daron and Edwina Luxich.

The family is very grateful for the loving care given to her by her very special sitters.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10, at St. Joseph Co-Cathedral in Thibodaux with mass to follow. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Landry’s Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
