Elsie S. Hargis, 79, a native of Valentine, La., and a resident of Lockport, La., died at 9:45 p.m. Saturday, May 17.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph V. Hargis; son, Veron Hargis; daughters, Lynn H. Vidrine, Alma H. Moore and Claire Hargis; sister, Clara Chauvin; grandchildren, Ryan, Allison and Erica Hargis, Chad Vidrine, Melissa Ferachi and Ashley and Amy Moore; and great-grandchildren, Grace and Allie Vidrine and Jackson Ferachi.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elves Savoie and Lena Blanchard Savoie.
She retired from teaching at Lockport Junior High School after 22 years. She also was a Sunday school teacher at and a member of Community Bible Church in Cut Off.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Billy Graham Foundation.
She was buried at Holy Savior Cemetery in Lockport.
Falgout Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
