Emelina “E.J.” Joseph Theriot Jr., 74, a native of Terrebonne Parish, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died Saturday, November 1.
He is survived by his wife, Renda Champagne Theriot of Houma; four sons, Robert James Theriot of Raceland, La., Emelina David Theriot of Houma, O’Neil Thomas Theriot of Chauvin, La., and Dale Patrick Theriot of Gulf Port, Ms.; three daughters, Elvera Ann Hymel of Houma, Kathy Faye Dugas of Dularge, La., and Lisa Margaret Rome of Luling, La.; three brothers, Eugene, Clayton and Roland; four sisters, Gladys, Gloria, Jeannette and Marjorie; 18 grandchildren, Holly, Nicholas, Heather, Robert Jr., William, Scotty, Ross, Renee, Andrew, Emily, Aaron, Lacey, O’Neil Jr., Ben, Lizzie, Anne Marie, Megan and Zachary; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emelien Joseph Theriot Sr. and Geniva Nell Crochet Theriot; one grandchild, Abbey Claire Theriot; six brothers, Alfred, Ralph, Linwood, John, Nolan and Dale; and four sisters, Ella Mae, Blanche, Celina and Nell.
He was a retired tester-inspector for French Jordan Inc. and was an Eucharistic Minister. He was a 3rd degree and 4th degree Knights of Columbus at St. Eloi. His hobbies included growing flowers, woodworking and he loved to feed the birds. He was a parishioner of St. Eloi Catholic Church.
Visitation will be 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 4, at Chauvin Funeral Home with mass to follow. He will be buried at St. Eloi Cemetery.
