Erjie J. Chiasson, 84, a native and resident of Lockport, La., died Monday, May 26, 2014.


Mr. Chiasson was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was employed at Lockport Western Auto then opened Erjie’s Hardware and Appliance. In 1960, he began working in the restaurant field and after 25 years he joined Otto Candies as a chef. He was served as alderman for Lockport and was a board member and president of the Atchafalaya Levee Board for a number of years.

He is survived by his daughters, Stephanie (Randy) Dandry and Sheila (Camille) Adams; sons, Sidney (Peggy) and Stuart (Karen) Forrestier; siblings, Lois Deroche and Audry Ourbe; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude Chiasson; parents, Jules and Nora Chiasson; brothers, Warren, Werlin and Hubert Chiasson; and sister, Ethel Adams. 


Burial is at Holy Savior Catholic Church Cemetery in Lockport. (Falgout)
