Ernest “Cowboy” Joseph Brunet Sr., 75, a native and resident of Point-aux-Chene, La., died Wednesday, March 5, 2014.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ophelia Brunet; sons, Carl (Linda) and Charles Sr. (Laurell) Couvillier and James (Tracy), Ernest Jr., Malcolm and Melvin Brunet; daughter, Rosalee (Wilfred Jr.) Chaisson; brothers, Raleigh and Elsee Brunet; sisters, Eola Theriot, Geraldine Domangue, Shirley Trosclair, Nancy Authement and Patricia Naquin; 22 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Leola Brunet; son, Harlen Brunet; brother, Norlton Brunet; sister, Marlyn Domangue; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.


Visitation will be 4 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 7, at the Point-aux-Chene Fire Station and 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday, March 8, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Burial will be at the church cemetery. (Samart)
