Ernest M. Ertell, 69, a native of Freeport, Tx., and a resident of Houma, La., died after a six-year battle with cancer on Friday, May 23.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Miriam Domangue Ertell; son, Ernest Ertell Jr. and wife Melissa, of Nashville, Tn.; daughters, Elise Ertell of Knoxville, Tn., and Anne and Doug Faber of Atlanta, Ga.; sister, Eva Clayton and Charles of Fort Worth, Tx.; grandchildren, Canton and Hannah Faber and Benjamin and Calvin Ertell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, B.F. and Annie Lou Savage Ertell; and sister, Dorothy Ertell Talbot.
Memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society and Bayou Region Hospice.
He was buried at Terrebonne Memorial Park Cemetery.
Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
