Ernest “Puckie” Johnson, Sr., 78, died Saturday, October 11.
He is survived by Shelia Butler; sons, Ernest, Jr., Bobbie, Claude, Roger, Wayne Johnson, Glen Johnson of Lafayette, La., Ernest Joshua Butler of Houma, La., and Craig Johnson of Dallas, Tx.; daughters, Soyna Wheaten, Sandra Johnson, Lisa Jackson, Latanya Butler and Jasmine Butler all of Houma; brothers, Daniel Johnson of Houma and Manuel Johnson of Pennsylvania; 42 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Ray Johnson; parents, Manuel & Cecil Johnson; sons, Michael and Lloyd Johnson; brother, Joseph Johnson; and sisters, Gladys Broomfield and Rachel Cox.
He was a Baptist and enjoyed fishing. He was retired from Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, October 17, at Community Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 18, at St. Luke Baptist Church in Waterproof, La. He will be buried at the church cemetery.
Community Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
