Estella Mae Sneed, 83, a native of New Orleans, La., and resident of Patterson, La., died Saturday, March 26, 2011.

Mrs. Sneed attended Craig Elementary School until a misfortune caused her not to continue her education, but still God allowed her to have vivid knowledge of Godliness. She was Christened at the New Zorah Baptist Church in Morgan City and later Baptized at Israel Universal Spiritual Church of New Orleans by Bishop Bessie Johnson. Her mission in the church was to serve as an usher for over 40 years until she could no longer stand, but still she continue in the church and truly love the Lord. “Mother Estella” placed her membership with the New Jerusalem Church of God and Christ in Patterson, La. She served as mother of the church until her illness.


She is survived by her daughters, Jean Turner and Carrie Benjamin; son, Marion Sneed; one granddaughter, Jasman Benjamin; one aunt, Lizetta Steward; and many relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Bishop Marion Gash Sneed; and one grandson, Charles Henry Turner Jr.

She is buried at Providence Memorial Cemetery in New Orleans. (Jones)
