Lenten Gumbo served for 20 years, still going strong

Estelle Boyd Folse, 65, a native and resident of Raceland, La., died Tuesday, March 09, 2010.
Mrs. Folse was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church and served on the deaconess board and the choir. She enjoyed cooking.
She is survived by her husband, the Rev. Russell Folse of Raceland; daughter, Connie Goosby of Raceland; sons, Michael (Albertha), Keith (Lisa) and LaDarrin Folse, all of Raceland; brother, Johnny (Margaret) Boyd Jr. of Thibodaux; stepbrother, Hezekiah (Dorothy) Triggs of Thibodaux; sisters, Kate Rose of Thibodaux and Jeanetta Gray of Vacherie; and 10 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny Sr. and Lommie Boyd; brothers, Aubry, Richmond Sr., Ernest and Eddie Boyd; sisters, Ora Mae Folse, Kathleen Jackson, Ethel Robinson, Ida Batise and Olivia Boyd.
She is buried at Brooklyn Cemetery in Raceland.
Kennedy Funeral Home of Raceland is in charge of arrangements.
