Esther Morvant Hidalgo, 80, a native of Chackbay, La., and resident of Thibodaux, La., died Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Arthur Hidalgo; sons, Wendell (Janie), Brennan (Yvette) and Gerard (Gwen) Hidalgo; daughter, Deborah (Stephen) Vidrine; eight grandchildren, Michelle Munson, Dawn Noone and Wesley, David, Ashley, Dylan and Alex Hidalgo and Danielle Lackey; and eight great-grandchildren, Taylor Munson, Katelyn and Emily Stevens, Nicole Noone, Mason Ortego, Kody Moody and Cole and Gracie Hidalgo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Margarite Peltier Morvant; brothers, Alex, Billy and Norbert Morvant; and sisters, Enola Watson and Maude Chaisson.
A longtime member of Woodmen of the World, Mrs. Hidalgo was also a volunteer with “A Smile is Worth.”
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
She is buried at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church Cemetery in Thibodaux.
