Eudras Prosperie

Eudras Anthony Prosperie, 67, a native and resident of Chauvin, La., died at 12:02 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009.

Mr. Prosperie was a trawler, trapper and owner of Prosperie’s Net Shop. He retired from McDermott Ship Yard. He was a past member of the Voice of the Lord Ministry, parishioner and Eucharistic Minister of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chauvin and a member of the Our Lady of Prompt Succor Adoration Chapel, the St. Joseph’s annual boat blessing committee and the Knights of Columbus Council 5013. Mr. Prosperie was a 20-year member of the South Butler Dog Hunting Association. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and cooking.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Margaret “Joan” Boudreaux Naquin Prosperie; son, Al (Michelle) Naquin Jr.; daughters, Donna (Nolan) Matherne, Juanita Griffin and Martha (Keith) Bergeron; 11 grandchildren, Andre’ (Bridget) Matherne, John Matherne, Tate Matherne, Travis (Rechelle) Rogers, Christopher (Lauren) Naquin, Lauren Naquin, Kenny Winsmann Jr., Carlton and Shea Griffin and Trevor and Aime’e Bergeron; and two great-grandchildren, Michael Scott Toland III and Bria Jane Matherne; sisters, Rosalie (Norbert) Dupre, Marylee (Ruffin) Martin and Geraldine “Gerry” (Samuel) Dupre.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Ida Marie Trahan Prosperie; paternal grandparents, Louis and Eulalee “TeChan” Pontiff Prosperie; maternal grandparents, Justilien and Marie Roselia Deotile Authement Trahan; brothers, Joseph and Gerald Prosperie; and sister, Norecia Marie Prosperie.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 10 p.m. Monday, Dec. 28, at Samart Funeral Home of Houma in Bayou Blue and from 9 a.m. to funeral time Tuesday, Dec. 29, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chauvin. Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Mr. Prosperie will be buried at St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery in Chauvin.
