Eve Catherine Guidry, 86, a native of Port Eads, La., a former resident of Burrwood, La., and Venice, La., and resident of Abita Springs, La., died at 3:13 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2010.

Mrs. Guidry was devoted to her loving God and the Blessed Mother through her recitation of the Holy Rosary and her Novenas and was a long time parishioner of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Venice. Affectionately known as “Maw-Maw,” “Evie-Devie,” and “Ms. Eve,” she enjoyed playing tennis, late night card games, board games, trips to the casino, the Saints and the Atlanta Braves and traveling with family members and friends. She loved all of God’s children. She tirelessly devoted her love and time to her family. While a great loss to her family, Heaven welcomes an incredible Angel.

She is survived by her brothers, Adam (Shirley), Allen and Carl (Nettie) Chartier; sons, Eric Jr. (Lorraine), Michael (Janice) and Charles “Danny” (Corlee) Guidry; daughters, Mona Lisa Guidry Jones, Julienne Guidry Erfle and Christine Guidry Baza; 12 grandchildren, Rachel (Eric), Rachelle (Glenn Michael), Brian, Jonathan (Amanda), Brad (Emily), Sean, Jacob (Nicole), Matthew (Courtney), Jeremiah, Sarah (Edmond), Janae and Janna; two great-grandchildren, Calleigh, Destiny and soon to be Daniel; three step-grandchildren, Jason (Alisha), Angela (Simon) and Jamie; six step-great-grandchildren, Dakota, Simon, Sean, Sydney, Mikell and Madison; her beloved Poodle, Sadie Lin; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Thomas, Joseph and Edward “Jerry” Chartier; and one son-in-law, Richard “Ricky” Jones.

She is buried at Our Lady of Good Harbor Cemetery in Buras, La.

A special thanks to the AmeraCare Family Hospice employees, especially Sherry Lejeune, Charisse Galatas, Brian Phillips, Lindy Jaccuzzo, Renee Smith and Deacon Butch Shartle, that lovingly cared for Eve in her time of need.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org.
