Evella Tabor Benoit, 80, a native and resident of Labadieville, La., died Tuesday, April 1, at 1:50 p.m.


She is survived by her husband, Newman J. Benoit Sr.; sons, Newman “Bubby” J. Benoit Jr., Patrick John Benoit and Barry P. Benoit; daughters, Aline Benoit, Ethel Griffin, Alice Blanchard, Barbara Champagne and Brenda Delaune; sister, Hortense “Lou” Usey; 19 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver “Black” Tabor and Marie Hebert Tabor; brothers, Felix “John”, Richard and Antoine Tabor; sisters, Noemie “Thersa” Thibodaux, Virgielee Guillot and Ethel Tabor; and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday, April 5, at St. Philomena Catholic Church in Labadieville with mass to follow. She will be buried at the church cemetery.

Landry’s Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
