Evelyn “Blackie” Adams Stevens, 94, a native of Thibodaux, La., and resident of Schriever, La., died at 8:20 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9, 2010.
She is survived by her daughters, Phyllis (John) Ables, Elaine Ables and Sharon (Leonard) Pollet; son, Louis (Delsie) Stevens; 10 grandchildren, Debbie Ables, Melissa Ables Tardiff, John Steven, Marshall and Michael Ables, Kay Stevens Lafleur, Amy Stevens Leger, Rachel Pollet Bonnette, Tanya Pollet Martin and Kim Stevens Avet; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; 12 step-great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Catherine “Tootie” Adams Brown; numerous nieces, nephews and adopted family; and three godchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Scuddy Stevens; one son, Warren Stevens; parents, Louis and Edna Baye Adams; three brothers, Louis Jr. “Plug”, Lionel and Calvern “Funny” Adams; and three sisters, Thelma Marie Richard, Lucille Ponson and Carmel Boudreaux.
She will be missed by her family but also by many who knew her.
She is buried at St. Joseph Cemetery
