Fercy Joseph Guilbeau Sr., 77, a native of Breaux Bridge, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died at 11:28 p.m. Sunday, March 7, 2010.


Mr. Guilbeau was a parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict. He worked and owned his oilfield-related businesses for 34 years. In his early years in Terrebonne Parish, he was active in the Junior League of the American Bowling Association. Mr. Guilbeau enjoyed spending time at his camp, fishing, dancing and reading.


He is survived by his wife, Betty Folse Guilbeau of Houma; sons, Ferris and Fercy Guilbeau Jr.; daughter, Myrtle (David) Babin; son-in-law, William “Bubba” Adams Sr.; stepdaughters, Danette (Noel) LeBlanc, Kelly (Terry) Levasseur and Suzanne (Michael) Manley; brother, Fernice (Dottie) Guilbeau; eight grandchildren, David (Lynda) Babin Jr., Shelly (Jonas) Fontenot, Kayla Cheramie, Brenton King III, Williams Adams Jr., Ross, Sarah and Fercy Guilbeau III; six stepchildren, Alexis, Lauren and Jeanne LeBlanc, Trent and Elisabeth Levasseur and Colten Manley; six great-grandchildren, Cullen Songy, Kaden King, Bryce Cheramie, Finn Fontenot, Mylan and Lanvan Babin; mother of his children, Dot Dail; and friend, Ron Lapeyrouse.

He is predeceased in death by his parents, Nicholas and Elina Hayes Guilbeau; daughter, Darlene Adams; brother, Lester Guilbeau; sisters, Eve Robin and Mary Lasseigne; and step-grandchild.

He is buried at Bayou Black Cemetery.
