Florence Gertrude Gauthreaux Hebert, 95, a native of Bayou Beouf, La., and a longtime resident of Gibson, La., died at the Lafourche Home for the Aged in Thibodaux, La., Sunday, November 9.


She is survived by six children, Albert Hebert and wife Peggy of Bayou Vista, La., Herbert Hebert and wife Theresa of Gibson, Olive Arceneaux of Gibson, Raymond Hebert and wife Carolyn of Houma, La., Marilyn Cornes and husband John of Thibodaux and Beverly Vetter and husband Scott of Shreveport, La.; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Adam Hebert; her parents, Albert and Isabelle Giroir Gauthreaux; two sisters, Gracie Leonard and Pearl Hebert; and one half-brother, Albert Paul Gauthreaux Jr.

She was a devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed being surrounded by her family. She was a devout Catholic who took an active role in the church. She was an avid gardener, reader and seamstress, whose handiwork provided wedding and baby quilts for several generations of family and friends. A strong, independent woman with a great sense of humor, she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 12, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Gibson with mass to follow. She will be buried at the church cemetery.

Twin City Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
