Floyd Luke Duplantis Sr., 80, a native and resident of Houma, La., died Sunday, June 19, 2011.


Mr. Duplantis was a devoted and loving father and friend who didn’t know the word no. He served in the Korean War and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, United Veterans and Disabled American Venerations. He was a senior mechanic for Tidewater Marine and was honored with a vessel named the “Floyd Tide” for his years of service and dedication. His hobbies included carving shrimp boats, playing cards and spending time with his family and many friends that he loved and adored.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Martha Duplantis; sons, Floyd Jr. (Judy), Jude, Farrel (Lisa) and Spencer (Michelle) Duplantis; daughters, Viola Price and Edith (Samuel) Lirette; sisters, Leona Landry and Oudia (Harmon) Dupre; brother, Toby (Theresa) Duplantis; and 11 grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Irving Sr. and Elise Duplantis; son, Stacey Duplantis; brothers, Irvin Jr. and Allen Duplantis; sisters, Audrey Bergeron and Diane Scott; and grandson, Samuel Lirette.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 21 at Chauvin Funeral Home and 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 22 at Holy Rosary Church. Mass will be at 11 a.m. with burial to follow at the church cemetery. (Chauvin)
