Frances Gibbens Jones-Crow, 80, a native and resident of Thibodaux, La., died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2104.


Mrs. Crow enjoyed reading, sewing, traveling and playing golf, tennis and bridge and was a charter member of the Hermanas Club in Thibodaux. She was an adventurer who traveled the world reveling in meeting new people and experiencing other cultures. Her camp at Grand Isle, La., was where she felt totally at peace fishing in the surf, walking along the beach and relaxing on the porch with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Brigadier General (ret.) John Crow; daughters, Becky (Mike) LeBlanc, Lydia (Danny) Goulas, Wendy (Todd) Murrian and Frances (Roger) Roman; sons, John Jr. (Frankie), Ben (Mollie) and Tim Jones; brother, Dub Gibbens Jr.; sister, Sara Vignes; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Jones Sr.; parents, Dub and Mildred Gibbens; brother, Tommy Gibbens; sisters, Carol Ann Harris and Mary Dupre; and grandmother, Lydia Hebert.


Visitation will be 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, at St. Joseph Co-Cathedral with Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. (Landry’s)
