Frances Callahan Kornegay, 88, a native of Boston, Mass., and resident of Houma, La., died at 9:57 a.m. Monday, March 28, 2011.


Mrs. Kornegay was a parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. She was a former member of the Krewe of Hyacinthians, the Krewe of Flames and the Stinker’s Club of Houma.

She is survived by her son, Merkle “Skipper” (Hilda) Kornegay Jr.; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Fontenot and Charles Kornegay; four great-grandchildren, Taylor and Caden Kornegay, and Chloe and Troy Jr. Fontenot; and sister-in-law, Rita Callahan.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Elizabeth Doyle Callahan; husband, Merkle Kornegay Sr.; one grandchild, Kevin Eugene Kornegay; and one brother, Edward Callahan.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to CASA of Terrebonne.

She is buried at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2. (Chauvin)
