Francis “Red” Joseph Detiveaux Sr., 87, a native of Bourg, La., and a resident of Chauvin, La., died Thursday, January 1.


He is survived by his wife, Hilda Chauvin Detiveaux; four sons, Carl Detiveaux, Mark Detiveaux, Lynn Detiveaux and Lawrence Detiveaux; one daughter, Marla Stark; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey Detiveaux Sr. and Marguerite Dubois; one son, Francis “Frankie” Detiveaux Jr.; one daughter, Sandra Detiveaux; and one brother, Dewey Detiveaux Jr.

He worked as a tankerman for Freeport Sulfur Company. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church and member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He was buried at St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery in Chauvin.

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
