Fred Blanton, 59, a native of Memphis, Tenn., and resident of Houma, La., died at his home Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010, after battling Glisblastoma, a rare form of brain cancer.


After graduating from high school, Mr. Blanton attended Northrop University in Inglewood, Calif., and J.M. Perry Institute in Yakima, Wash. He later worked as a nuclear instrument and control engineer, relocating to Houma in 1989.

He is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart, Juanita McClaflin; son, Beau Blanton of Houma; brother, John (Belinda) of Amusville, Ore.; sister, Judy (Allen) Christensen of Dayton, Ore.; and many nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Dorothy Jean Gibson Blanton.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, at Living Word Church, 109 Valhi Blvd. in Houma.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in the name of Fred E. Blanton to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
