Protection vital for future, locals tell Mabus
August 17, 2010Freddie James Mart, 65, a native of Terrebonne Parish, La., and resident of Gray, La., died at 5:17 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2010.
He is survived by his sons, Eldridge and Rashawn (Tameka) Mart; daughter, Tilecia Akere; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Perry and Larry Mart; and eight sisters, Helen Woods, Ernestine (William) Nells, Shirley Frank, Claudette (Wesley) Nixon, Joan Dell (Micheal Nells), Angela Mart, Lydia (Donald) Gwin and Mary Jane Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Ringo Mart; parents, Ernest and Helen Richard Mart; three sisters, Caroline Pharr, Alma Brooks and Rosamary Wallis; and grandparents, Louis and Ossie Mart, and James and Rose Griffin Richard.
He is buried at Halfway Cemetery in Gray.
