Frederic R. “Fast Freddy” Adams, 91, a native of Thibodaux, La., and resident of Beverly Hills, Mich., died Monday, March 8, 2010.


A U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Adams was stationed in Europe during part of his 37 years of government service. He and Joan, his wife of 63 years, met while he was stationed in England during World War II. When he returned to the states, he worked at Fort Knox before settling in Michigan, where he took a position at the U.S. Army’s tank automotive command, retiring as acting director of the Plans and Analysis Directorate.

A base fiddle player in a Louisiana jazz band, he also hunted deer and duck in Germany, was an avid photographer, gardener, sailor and was published in many newspapers.


He is survived by his wife, Joan; children, Cherisse (Ken), Chuck (Maureen) and Rico (Wanda); and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is buried at White Chapel Cemetery in Troy, Mich.
