Gay Wallis Dawson, 44, a native of Terrebonne Parish, La., and resident of Houma, La., died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011.


Mrs. Dawson was Baptist. She was a self-employed cosmetologist.

She is survived by her husband, Mark Dawson Sr.; sons, Jeffrey Wallis and Mark Dawson Jr.; brothers, Ernest Mart and Tyron Celestine; sisters, Yolanda Mart, April, Sheryl and Effie Wallis and Evelyn Nett Williams; and one grandchild.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Abraham and Rosemary Wallis; three sons, Bruce Wallis, and Abraham and Justin Dawson; maternal grandparents, Ernest and Helen Richard Mart; and paternal grandparents, Abraham and Effie Short Wallis.

She is buried at Halfway Cemetery.
