Genevieve Ball Brown, 93, a native of Pontotoc, Miss., and resident of Houma, La., died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010.


Mrs. Brown was a homemaker, avid gardener, seamstress and doll artist. She was a servant of the Lord and her joy was doing for others. She loved working with her hands and creating Santa dolls, angels, quilts and heirloom clothes for family and friends.

She is survived by her daughters, Vee Rita Nelson, Alice (Hank) Lewis, Dianne (Cambron) Frost and Frankie (James) Livingston; son, Thomas (Mary) Brown Jr.; sister, Betty McGregor; 10 grandchildren, Lana Kay Nelson, Karen N. Zito, John L. Nelson, David M. Lewis, Mary L. Soileau, Lauren E. Lewis, Alison R. Frost, Matthew T. Frost, Holden Brown and Genevieve Brown; and 12 great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Leland Brown; parents, William Frank Ball and Belia McDivitt Ball; one brother, James Frank Ball; one sister, Ruby C. Stafford; one grandson, Jeffrey T. Frost; one great-granddaughter, Mary Ashlee Steckler; and one son-in-law, John L. Nelson.
