George Paul Brown, Jr., 85, a native of Thibodaux, La., and resident of Galliano, La., died Thursday, September 20, 2007, at 8:25 a.m.


He is survived by his two sons, Gary Brown and his wife Robin and Abbot Justin Brown, O.S.B.; one daughter, Barbara Plaisance and her husband Glenn; one brother, Francis Brown; three sisters, Irene Grieshabar, Rose Lee Toups, and Gayle LeBlanc; three grandchildren, Nicol Armato and her husband John, Renee Hebert and her husband Billy Bob, and Glenn “Mikie” Plaisance and his wife Rebecca; and 10 great grandchildren, Allis Armato, Anna Armato, Jordan Hebert, Erin Hebert, Katelyn Hebert, Shannon Hebert, Hugh Plaisance, Lucy Plaisance, Owen Plaisance, and Ellen Plaisance.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Bernard Brown; and his parents, George and Irma Boudreaux Brown, Sr.


George was a devout Catholic. He served his country as a Navy Pilot during World War II. He was a former employee of Texaco.

Visitation is Sunday, September 23, 2007, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., at Falgout Funeral Home in Galliano and Monday, September 24, 2007, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., with the funeral to follow at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in St. Charles Community, La., Hwy 308 in Thibodaux. He will be buried in St. Charles Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to St. Joseph Abbey in St. Benedict, La., 70457, or to a charity of choice.

Falgout Funeral Home of Galliano is in charge of the arrangements.
