George “Jerry” Bollinger, 67, a lifelong resident of Lockport, La., died at his home Monday, Aug. 10.


Carrying on his legacy are his daughter, Lisa Schaffer and husband John; one son, Timothy and wife Jolee and their children, Ella and Grant; two brothers, Eric Bollinger and Robbie Bollinger; five sisters, Sue Orgeron, Laura Champagne, Patty Crochet, Cindy Landry and Mary Bollinger; in-laws, Joann and Chippy Catalanotte, Betty Jo and Curtis Quatrevingt, and Robert and Gertie Bushnell; a host of nieces and nephews; and ever-faithful beagle, Rascal.


Jerry was preceded in death by his wife Ruby; parents, George and June Bollinger, baby brother, Douglas; and in-laws, Ocy and Margaret Bushnell.

Jerry valiantly and humbly fought cancer allowing his family and friends to care for him until the end. He will forever be remembered as a wonderful and loving Dad, husband, friend and worker. He will be remembered and missed for his gentle spirit, his kind heart, sense of humor and hearty laughter.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Louisiana, the staff at Cancer Center of Thibodaux Regional and his sitters who gave their all.

Relatives, friends and workers of Bollinger Shipyard are invited to attend the visitation and services Thursday, Aug. 13, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Holy Savior Catholic Church. The funeral service will be at 12 p.m. with burial to follow at the church cemetery.

Samart-Mothe Funeral Home in Raceland, La., is in charge of the arrangements.
