George O. Pontif, 79, a native of Terrebonne Parish, La., and resident of Houma, La., died Saturday, March 1, 2014.
Mr. Pontif served in the U.S. Army in Germany and was employed by Exxon USA for 38 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening and working with his orange trees.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Hilda Pontif; daughter, Brenda (Daniel) Galbraith; sons, Brian (Heidi) and Steve (Malissa) Pontif; sisters, Vivian Cancienne and Alice Guidry; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Julette Pontif; son, Dennis Pontif; sisters, Hazel Chartier and Agnes Vice; and brothers, Ned, Robert and John Pontif.
Burial is at Bayou Black Cemetery. (Chauvin)
