Gov.’s wife joins effort to build Gray Habitat home

May 20, 2010George Joseph Ohmer Jr., 69, a native of Napoleonville, La., and resident of Chauvin, La., died at 10:40 a.m. Tuesday, May 11, 2010, after a three-year battle with cancer.
Mr. Ohmer was a gifted musician. He acquired his first guitar at age 12 and spent his life writing music.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Eva Mae Gaudet Ohmer; daughters, Sandra Ohmer, Margie Ohmer, Melanie (Greg) Andrews, Angele (Jeff) Guitrau and Sonya (Homer) Collins; 17 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Mayola Ohmer Barras; and a host of other relatives.
He is buried at St. Andrew Catholic Church Mausoleum in Amelia.
