Gerald Anthony Guidry, 78, a native of Cut Off, La., and a resident of Raceland, La., died Saturday, July 25, at 11:40 a.m.


He is survived by his three sons, Jarvis, Roger and Jerry Guidry; one daughter, Deborah Guidry Decker; one sister, Carol Trant; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Etite and Julia Guidry; one son, Anthony Guidry; and one sister, Patsy Zeringue.

He served in the U.S. Air Force as a flight engineer and received an honorable discharge November 17, 1954. He was a member of the American Legion for 55 years and was also a life member. He served as Department Commander of the Department of Louisiana American Legion, Post Commander of Raceland Post 349, 3rd District Commander and on numerous committees. He was a member of the VFW and was also a life member. He served as Post Commander of Post 3665 and was a member of the 40 & 8 for 55 years. He also served as Grande Chef De Train. He was a parishioner of St. Mary Catholic Church.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, at Falgout Funeral Home in Raceland. The funeral service will be at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Falgout Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
