Gerald Joseph Ledet, 71, a native and resident of Chauvin, La., died Monday, Sept. 21, at 4:59 p.m.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nell Dupre Ledet; one son, Robert “Robbie” Ledet and wife Denise of Pointe-aux-Chenes, La.; three daughters, Donna LaBauve and husband Kerry, Anita Babin and husband Lee Roy of Chauvin, and Lori Champagne and husband Gary of Gray, La.; 16 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis Ledet and Olivia Dupre Ledet; one son, Marty Ledet; one daughter, Pamela Ledet; one infant daughter; four brothers, Albert, Druby, Ragis and Remy Ledet; and two sisters, Thelma Trahan and Rose Danos Portier.
He was a supply boat captain employed by Sheildcoat, Dixie Shipyard and Benoit Machine.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, at Samart Funeral Home in Houma, La., and 9:30 a.m. to 11:3- a.m. Friday, Sept. 25, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chauvin. Mass will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the church with burial at the church cemetery.
Samart Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
