Gernis C. Cheramie, 78, a native of Golden Meadow, La., and a resident of Cut Off, La., died Tuesday, Sept. 29, at 6:15 p.m.
She is survived by one son, Freddie Cheramie and wife Susan; two daughters, Marlene Sassoni and husband Michael, and Louverda Chiasson and husband Kim; one brother, Hubert Cheramie; one sister, Rosita Plaisance; 13 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Antoine Cheramie; parents, Noel Sr. and Augusta Serigny Cheramie; one son, Timmy Cheramie; four brothers, Noel Jr., Christopher Sr., Gerald and Leroy Cheramie; and two sisters, Romanda Cheramie and Frances Eymard.
She was Catholic.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, and 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 2, at Samart-Mothe Funeral Home in Cut Off. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with burial at Cheramie Cemetery in Galliano, La.
Samart-Mothe Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
