February 8, 2010Gerry Lee Sims Short, 60, a native of Terrebonne Parish and resident of Gibson, La., died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010.
Mrs. Short was a member of St. James Baptist Church, an Eastern Star with Golden Leaf Chapter #107 O.E.S. and a head start teacher.
She is survived by her husband, Chester Short; son, Cleveland Sims Sr.; daughters, Shari Brown and Ashley Sims; brother, Henry Lee Allen; sisters, Paulette Hayes, Jacqulyn Allen and Delores A. Bean; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Jr. and Beverly J. Allen; brother, Hodges Allen Sr.; sister, Betty Allen; and grandparents, Earl Sr. and Zenobia Hannibal Johnson.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5, at St. James Baptist Church in Gibson. A wake service will begin at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. at the church Saturday, Feb. 6.
She will be buried at St. James Baptist Church Cemetery.
Community Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
