Gladys Picou Joseph, 84, a native of Terrebonne Parish, La., and resident of Houma, La., died Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011.

Mrs. Joseph was a member of Residence Baptist Church and a member of Union Benevolent Society. She was a homemaker.


She is survived by her sons, Jerry Sr. (Carolyn) and Frank Jr. (Arnetta) Hawkins; daughters, Rosemary Thompson, Barbara (Frank) Bailey and Betty Knightshed; brother, Isaac Picou; sisters, Elnora Picou and Georgia Thomas; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Herbert Joseph and Frank Hawkins Sr.; parents, Thomas and Flossie Picou; brothers, Junius Reed and Thomas Picou Jr.; and sisters, Doretha Frye and Verline Picou.

Burial was at Union Benevolent Cemetery. (Gertrude Geddes Willis-Terrebonne)
