Gladys Toups Cormier, 96, a native of Gueydan, La., and a resident of Lockport, La., died Monday, March 30, at 6:25 p.m.

She is survived by her daughters, Marie Anne Morillon and husband William of Katy, Tx., and Mary Claire Dufrene and husband Rudy of Lockport; brother, Ellis Toups of Gueydan; sister, Theresa T. Elliott of Lockport; grandchildren, Rudy Dufrene Jr., Anne Marie Morillon, Amy Strevig and Michelle Burrus; and great-grandchildren, Tiffany, Courtney and Chloe Dufrene, Sadie and Morgan Anderson, and Nicholas, Colin and Joshua Burrus.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Bernard Cormier; parents, Abel Toups Sr. and Bernadette Champagne Toups; brothers, A.J. Toups Jr., David Toups, Ray Toups and Peter Toups; sisters, Macy T. Tinsley and Bridget T. Scanlan; and grandson, Rodney Dufrene.

She was a former employee of Goaux’s Drug Store and the Lafourche Parish Library. She was a parishioner of Holy Savior Catholic Church where she was a member of the Ladies Altar Society. She also belonged to the Sacred Heart League, Miraculous Medal Society and the Red Hat Society of Katy, Tx.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, April 2, at Falgout Funeral Home in Lockport. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Holy Savior Catholic Church in Lockport with burial at the church cemetery.

Falgout Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
