Gloria R. Cherry, 76, a native of Bayou Blue, La., and resident of Raceland, La., died at 5:55 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, 2012.

Mrs. Cherry was an avid pastor’s wife, state Women’s Ministry secretary and Sectional Women’s Ministry president. She was a caretaker for children and many homebound elderly. She was a parishioner of Raceland Assembly of God Church.


She is survived by her daughters, Darla Cherry and Deanna (Dwayne) Gorman; brothers, Eugene, Bobby, Eddie, Raymond, Gus and Gary Rodrigue; sisters, Walterine Babin, Georgina Shepard and Lilly Myers; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. J.B. Cherry; parents, Augustin and Bridget Rodrigue; brothers, Willard, Walton, Weston, Wilber, Wallace, John and Beeryl Rodrigue.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at Raceland Assembly of God Church with services to follow. Burial will be at Rogers Cemetery. (Samart-Mothe)
