Gov.’s wife joins effort to build Gray Habitat home

Dr. Gordon J. Landry, 84, a native of New Orleans, La., former resident of Thibodaux, La., and most recently of Kennesaw, Ga., died Wednesday, May 5, 2010, in Atlanta.


Dr. Landry received bachelor’s degree in education from Loyola University in 1955, a master’s degree in education from Loyola in 1957, a master’s degree in mathematics from Louisiana State University in 1960 and a doctorate in mathematics from Texas A&M University in 1969.


He began his teaching career at the University of New Orleans and, after earning his doctorate, taught math at Nicholls State University until his retirement in 1995.

A U.S. Marine Corps veteran, Dr. Landry served in the 5th Infantry Division in Okinawa, the Ryukyu Islands and in Japan and China during World War II.

Donations to the Nicholls Foundation scholarship fund are appreciated in lieu of flowers.

He is survived by his children, Gary (Susan) Landry, Dr. Therese (Dr. Jeffrey) DeMouy, Anne (Kevin) Lagarde and Gregory (Claudia) Landry Sr.; eight grandchildren; and former wife, Madeleine Delaune Landry.
