Granvil Robinson Sr., 97, a native of Raceland, La., and a resident of Thibodaux, La., died Thursday, May 28, at 6:18 a.m.
He is survived by his sons, Granvil Robinson Jr., Phillip Robinson, George Robinson, Clarence Robinson of Thibodaux and Wilbert Robinson of Houma, La.; daughters, Essie Louise Johnson, Delores Kennedy and Enez Johnson, all of Thibodaux; brothers, Jonas Bill, Freddie Gaines, Herbert Robinson, Arthur Robinson and Naaman Robinson; sisters, Lillie Thomas, Eska Mae Weaver, Ella Thomas and Verlin Ambrose; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Ethel Boyd Robinson; parents, Shelvin Robinson Sr. and Elnora Davis; and nine brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 2, at Third Zion Baptist Church in Raceland. A religious service will be at 11 a.m. at the church with burial to follow at Brooklyn Cemetery in Raceland.
Falgout Funeral Home in Raceland is in charge of the arrangements.
