Harriet Duplantis Pellegrin, 75, a native of Chauvin, La., and resident of Houma, La., died Monday, Sept. 26, 2011.

Mrs. Pellegrin was a parishioner of Annunziata Parish and worked for 40 years as parish secretary before retiring earlier this year. Her work at the church was an integral part of her life and more a labor of love than a job. She was a member of the Annunziata Church Ladies Altar Society and taught religious education at the church.


She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Donald Pellegrin Sr.; sons, Donald Jr. (Elvina), Duane, Frank (Kathy), Gregg (Faith), Peter (Jeanette) and Jeffery (Uma) Pellegrin; daughters, Suzanne (Peter) Samocki and Marguerite Pellegrin; brothers, Donald, Emery Jr. (Cathy) and Wayne (Gloria) Duplantis; sisters, Alice Elliot, Joyce Matherne and Elaine (Roy) Labit; 21 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Emery Sr. and Valerie Duplantis; stepmother, Helen Duplantis; and grandparents, Elie and Malazie DuBois and Elie and Victoria Duplantis.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28 at Chauvin Funeral Home and 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 29 at Annunziata Catholic Church with mass to follow. Burial will be at Holy Rosary Cemetery. (Chauvin)
